When the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation asked supporters to be their Valentines, almost 500 guests of all ages accepted the invitation for brunch at the Drake. Raising over $89,000 for breast cancer research, the family party featured a smorgasbord of sweets, from Smarties and Surf Sweets to a cookie decorating station with experts from Chicago’s cupcake capitol, Sweet Mandy B’s.
Sarna Lee Goldenberg, Libby Langsdorf, and Jennifer Meyers co-chaired the day, with performances by the Jesse White Tumblers and Skates, the Chicago Wolves mascot, plus music from DJ Versage. Pop-up shops featuring items for all ages and a silent auction added to the fun.
All proceeds raised that evening benefitted the Lynn Sage Research Foundation, dedicated to breast cancer research, fellowships, and education programs at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. Since it began in 1985, the foundation has raised over $31 million toward advancing the understanding of breast cancer.
