The Return of Local Favorite Pierrot Gourmet

After a two-year hiatus, the Peninsula’s beloved European inspired café Pierrot Gourmet has reopened. Located on the corner of Rush and Superior , Pierrot Gourmet (affectionately known as “PG”) has been a favorite for local residents for the last two decades. Neighbors have been begging the Peninsula to reopen and when the renovation finally began they have been glaring in the windows like children looking into a candy store anxiously awaiting the reopening.

The Peninsula has created a fresh new interior design but kept all the classic food items and added some new creations. The opening menu was created by Chef de Cuisine Jerick Vargas, and includes breakfast classics, flatbreads, tartines, soups, and salads. Everyone can rest easy that all the favorites are back including the rotisserie chicken, tuna tartine and the Pen chicken salad. The bakery has the most beautiful and delicious fresh pastries and an expanded takeaway menu. They arguably have the best macarons outside of Paris.

The new space, designed by Bill Rooney, is more modern and brighter but has that European feel. Its fresh but still feels “French.” They also have wines, olive oils and other home staples available for purchase.

Initially PG will only be open Wednesday through Sunday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. No reservations. There will be special wine dinners in the evenings featuring pairings of European cuisine with regional wines. If you are interested please let the restaurant know to put you on the notification list as they announce the dates.

Pierre Gourmet is the perfect place for a casual yet elevated breakfast or lunch. Welcome back!
