The long-anticipated night arrived! The Costume Council 50th Anniversary Jubilee!! The energy was electric as you entered the Chicago History Museum on Friday, October 18th. The attire was “cocktail”, I can assure you everyone showed up and showed out!

Proceeding to the second floor after checking in is where all the activities were happening. Drinks and passed hors d’oeurves, the silent auction and the opening of the long-awaited Costume exhibit. Featuring seventy never before seen pieces of clothing, shoes and jewelry. Led by Jessica Pushor, four of the past curators assisted with the selections. They included Elizabeth Jachimowicz, Virginia Heaven, Timothy Long and Petra Slinkard. The exhibit was beautifully done and is one I will come back to see many times.

The dinner began at 7:00pm followed by the Fashion show. The menu consisted of Farmer’s Market greens and carmel apple salad, pear-glazed frenched chicken breast or hand rolled gnocchi and a Chocolate Maple purse for dessert. Freemans/Hindman Auctions Appraisers presented the Fashion show which began at 8:15. The designers whose fashions were modeled were also in attendance and seated at various tables. The designers included Neiman Marcus, Maria Pinto Boutique, Tamra Ellingson, Silwa Designs, and Mira Couture. A fabulous look at what will be worn this season and perhaps will be destined to be in the CHM’s Costume collection in the future.

The silent auction held many designer pieces and once you bid on an item you would receive texts if you had been outbid. At the end of the bidding you would be notified it you won by text!

The party then moved down to the first floor. DJ Eliana Garcia spun tunes, silent auction continued and late night bites and libations were served. A 360-degree photo booth was a huge success. Then there was a shorter but very impactful fashion show. Followed by a performance of ABBA cover band, Dancing Queen: An ABBA Salute.
