At the Chicago Botanic Garden

 

Show of Summer co-chairs, Molly Stephan, Susan Green and Ladd Mengel, were all from the Winnetka Garden Club.

 

High Summer officially arrived on the North Shore with the Show of Summer, at the Chicago Botanic Garden. The weekend of the event–a major flower show of the Garden Club of America–began with Friday judging for awards, closely followed that evening by a festive Preview Party.

Participants were the Garden Clubs of Barrington, Evanston and Winnetka, Kenilworth Garden Club, Lake Forest Garden Club and the Garden Guild of Winnetka. Members conducted competitive flower arrangements classes, photography classes and educational and conservation exhibits.

 

A happy winner was Shelley Galloway, of the Kenilworth Garden Club, who was awarded Best in Show Design.

Show of Summer Preview Party co-chairs were Barbara Ferry and Marjorie Fuller of the Winnetka Garden Club.

Lin Clarke and Vicki Wagner of the Garden Club of Evanston,  recipient of the Ann Lyon Crammond Award, presented by the Garden Club of America for an outstanding education exhibit at the GCA Major Flower Show.
