One of the most esteemed volunteer organizations in the country includes consummate gala planning in its skills bank. Junior League members and their guests gathered recently at the Metropolitan Club to toast their upcoming Gala on February 24 at the Drake Hotel, where the League had its office almost 100 years ago.

A curated shopping experience with Black Tux and LH Exchange, a terrific DJ, and raffle prizes from Gala sponsors—not to mention a clear sky view from the Willis Tower—kicked off the Gala with gusto. Vaughn Smith and Colleen Norton serve as co-chairs.

Gala Co-Chair Vaughn Smith welcomes guests.

Development Manager at Leslie Hindman Auctioneers, Vaughn reports:

“We are excited to bring our Junior League Gala to the historic Drake Hotel with an evening of elegance, fun, and a live band. The celebration enables us to support the League’s mission to provide funds and support for at-risk women and children in the Chicago community.

“Our dinner program will feature one of our longest running projects, Teen Exodus. It serves teen girls in Cabrini Green, Washington Park, and Uptown, providing activities that foster self-esteem and leadership. Our League members mentor teens on Saturdays throughout the year, providing participants with fun, educational activities like dance classes, cooking lessons, museum trips, and theater performances. We’ll have two guest speakers—the Chief Program Officer of Chicago Youth Programs and a former Teen Exodus participant—to share their experiences and the impact of the programs across the city.”
