Have you ever been walking along the 1200 block of North Astor and wondered just what was beyond these gates ? As you can see, NO DOGS ALLOWED, but children are welcome—as are adults. Named for a late nineteenth century Chicago attorney, William C. Goudy, who served as Lincoln Park Board President from 1887 to 1893, Goudy Square Park is located at the Southeast corner of Astor and Goethe Streets and falls under the jurisdiction of the Chicago Park District. The park was transformed into the special space it is today with children’s playground equipment, wrought iron fences and much more, made possible through generous donations from private citizens in the neighborhood.
In addition to the expected slides, swings and seesaws that children—and adults—look for in a child’s park, Goudy Square has features other playlots simply do not offer.

As do their parents and adult neighbors
Children enjoying the slides, swings and seesaws of a city park vary in age and size. Goudy Square Park provides more than one set of playground equipment to ensure that the smaller children are served as completely as their older siblings and frends.
