“A day at the races.” It is one of those phrases, like “Christmas morning,” that evokes memories and anticipation, certainly for anyone within an easy drive of Richard Duchossois’ Arlington International Racecourse.
For the ladies of the Service Club of Chicago, who never miss an opportunity to throw a party or to wear an elaborate hat, honoring “Mr. D.” for his advocacy of the racing industry was an occasion to do both. Their June benefit, officially titled Day at The Races, not only featured their customary display of fancy millinery, they also threw in the modeling of the creations of Menotti Couture.
Service Club of Chicago members, guests, spouses and even a few children gathered in the Arlington Park Governor’s Room for a spectacular afternoon of racing.
