Chicago Cemeteries -Photographic Perspective by Bryan Weinper
Chicago has several cemeteries that are filled with history. Rosehill, Graceland, Oakwood and St. Boniface.
Rosehill is probably one of my favorites, with its limestone entrance designed by William W. Boyington, known as the architect who designed the Chicago Water Tower, and the Old University of Chicago. It’s mausoleum designed by Sidney Lovell, and Chicago’s Volunteer Firefighters Memorial designed by Leonard Volk. Along with many Civil War Memorials.
If you wander through any of these cemeteries you will discover memorials to many of those that helped build Chicago and make it the great city that is. And I encourage all not to look at a cemetery as a place to only go for a funeral, instead a space to go and discover the history of Chicago.
