Chicago Antiques + Art + Design Show

Our sampling of the superb treasures available at this year’s Chicago Antiques + Art + Design Show includes this large mahogany serpentine chest, English, circa 1760, from Jayne Thompson Antiques of Harrodsburg, Kentucky.
When the Chicago Antiques + Art + Design Show opens with a Thursday night preview on May 17, it will be welcomed enthusiastically by the many collectors who were so delighted with the new version of the fair, produced last spring by Dolphin Promotions.
There will again be a four-day opportunity to view—and purchase—fine objects from throughout the nation and the world, with a three-day weekend show, May 18 to 20, and festive opening night, Thursday, May 17 from 6 to 9 p.m. The show will once more be in its natural habitat, the Mart’s seventh floor exhibition space.

A special attraction this year will be design chairs Manhattan’s Nick Olsen and Ruthie Sommers of Los Angeles. Both designers will mingle with guests during the Thursday opening night and jointly present a 10 a.m. keynote speech the following morning.

The Opening Night Party on Thursday, May 17, 6 to 9 p.m., benefiting The Woman’s Board of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, will be chaired by Elissa Kovas, Jennifer McKinney and Meredith Wood-Prince. Interior designer Stephanie McKean is Woman’s Board president. The festive cocktail reception will present serious collectors with the opportunity to shop the Chicago Antiques + Art + Design Show before its enticing items are offered to the public.

The show will host more than 80 premier national and international exhibitors presenting superb antique furniture, decorative and fine arts, antique and estate jewelry, folk art, and antiquarian books from the 17th to 20th centuries. Ten Pound Island, an oil on canvas signed by Childe Hassam and dated 1896, is from M.S. Rau Antiques of New Orleans.

Olivier Fleury Antiques of Winter Park, Florida will present a 19th century anatomical model by Dr. Auzoux.
Ophir Gallery of Englewood, New Jersey will be offering an extremely rare 16-inch “Tulip” Table Lamp by Tiffany Studios, circa 1910.
This rare 6.5-inch Daum Nancy scenic broken egg, French, circa 1900, will be presented by Philip Chasen Antiques of East Norwich, New York.
TOJ Gallery of Annapolis, Maryland is showing a Boch Freres Keramis Art Deco vase designed by Leon Lambillotte in 1927.
The above Map of the Americas by Abraham Ortelius, Antwerp, circa 1589 is being shown by Charles Edwin Puckett of Akron Ohio. The map is engraved with original hand-coloring.
Benchmark of Palm Beach is showing a pair of oil derrick cufflinks in 14K yellow gold with moveable donkey head shaft.
Gladwell & Patterson of Knightsbridge, London will show the above oil on canvas by Gustave Cariot, entitled Meules devant un Village, 1929.
Greenwald Antiques of Cleveland, Ohio is offering a turn-of-the-century cameo glass landscape vase by Daum Nancy.

Greg Pepin Silver of Copenhagen will show this large oval sterling Georg Jensen centerpiece, 1919.
