Created in the furor of the destruction of the Louis Sullivan Old Stock Exchange Building in 1971, Landmarks Illinois can be thanked for saving the Cultural Center, the Marquette Building, The Rookery, the Reliance Building, and other significant structures statewide. The extraordinary successes of Landmarks Illinois and its preservation heroes will be profiled in an upcoming Classic Chicago feature.
