Pilot, oceanographer, the first female chief bishop (known as a primate) of the Anglican Communion—with all these achievements and interests, it is no wonder recently retired Presiding Bishop Katherine Jefferts Schori was recently honored by Episcopal Charities and Community Services at their Bishop’s Ball held November 4 at the JW Marriott.

The Right Reverend Jeffrey Lee welcomed over 400 Episcopalians and friends from across the Diocese of Chicago to the 57th Annual Bishop’s Ball, which supports the work of its ministry partners. Cheryl Rogers, President of the ECCS Board, recognized the efforts of The Reverend Jim Steen, the recently retired former director of ministries in the diocese. Guests also congratulated the newly-elected Bishop of Indianapolis, The Right Reverend Jennifer Baskerville-Burrows (formerly the director of networking in the Chicago diocese).

On the day of the Cubs triumphant victory parade, there was extra excitement in the air that evening, particularly surrounding the bidding on Wrigley Field Skybox tickets to a next-season Cubs game! Adding to that energy was the spirited dance music of Joe Lil, proving once again why orchestra is a Ball tradition.
